AGT, BTEC, EDEXCEL
PROFILE
The qualifications include A levels, GCSEs, GNVQs, the vocational BTEC suite that provides progression from pre GCSE level through to sub-degree. Higher National Diplomas and tailor-made qualifications for employers.
Edexcel was formed in 1996 by the merger of the Business & Technology Education Council (BTEC), the country’s leading provider of vocational qualifications, and the University of London Examinations & Assessment Council (ULEAC), one of the major exam boards for GCSEs and A levels.
The name ‘Edexcel’ was originally derived from ‘educational excellence’.
In June 2003 the Edexcel Foundation entered into a partnership arrangement with Pearson PLC, the biggest educational services company in the world.
In the UK, Edexcel works with more than 5,000 secondary schools, 450 further education colleges, 70 higher education institutions and more than 700 employers and training providers.
Internationally, Edexcel operates in 112 countries and every year more than four million people trust their respected learning programmes and qualifications
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
With the global education and labour markets accessible to all as never before, students from all over the world are looking for qualification that open doors to their future.
BTEC qualification from Edexcel International give learners the opportunity to progress their education world-wide, as well as passport to the global workplace.
Whether a programme is delivered in London, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai or Nairobi, units and learning outcomes are identical with a globally standardised and widely recognised qualification. BTEC qualifications are designed to produce students ready for a degree course or the workplace. BTEC Higher National diplomas (HNDs) can be studied locally, and are recognised for advanced entry by universities all over the world. Often students need only to complete one year of study after completing their BTEC HND to achieve a degree.
Employers world-wide appreciate career-specific courses that keep up with the technology and latest industry practices. Universities recognise and understand the BTEC brand as a global guarantee of achievement.
Students enjoy the work-related content because it provides important practical knowledge and skills that will enable them to secure the jobs they want. Employees enjoy the vocational content because they can retrain or gain higher level qualifications whilst in work.
Academy of Graphic Technologies was created in the year 2000 by graphic art professionals to bridge the existing technological gap by providing relevant training that is at par with the dynamic Graphic media industry.
BTEC (Business Technical Education Council) a UK based examining body was an obvious selection owing mainly to its quality assurance system and learning practices which combine both skill and knowledge.
AGT was granted approval in the year 2004 to offer 2 Diplomas. The first one was the BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design and the second being the BTEC National Diploma in Print Technologies. In 2006 we were accredited to offer the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Graphic Design and in 2007 the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Print Technology.
